A coffee with the 'Convener'...

Today I went on a coffee with the 'Convener', the man!! The man supposed to be the 'sultan' of the most happening thing in IITG. Soon I realised my biggest misconception. No, he's not that happy(I thought) rather he's busy making others happy. Be it the team member's 'busy'-ness or sponsor's laziness(I suppose the Admin work hasn't started yet), he's the one who gets a feather added to his cap of million responsibilities.
But team...team is full time active...then where is the problem??
...dedication??

Hats off to designers!!

'Patience' is the word for designers... I realised this recently while I was sitting with the design team'08 today. An uncountable number of "suggestions" from everyone who passed by, over the design of Events Brochure which will be released soon, and that too with a pinch of uncertainty over what they want. Half said and rest half expected by "everyone" to be understood by the designers. Despite all, they sat their 'kewl'... pressing 10 keys at a time, changing 100 colours at a time and managing 1000 "layers" at a time..(I learnt this term 'layer' the same day, it's something in the Photoshop :) ) Finally after million surveys and incorporating 'valuable suggestions' by everyone, we got the main page of the brochure finalised. While I was taking a look at it, I realised that the designer has tried to portray Retro in today's colourful GenNext..but then I soon realised, is it necessary that everyone think it the same way??...
think you'll answer this better...

REVEL in RETRO !!

So friends, at the time when Team'08 has just started the work, not in full fledge though, but still significant developments are taking place daily, in each team which are enough to worry about something or the other, and when whole IITG is busy awaiting Manthan(2 weeks away), I'll look dumb to post something at 4.40 AM. :)
So, cut the crap, enjoy the release Poster!
Get ALCHERised.. :)

Just to mark an achievement, Publi team'08 has gone active well on schedule with teams sent to Gangtok, Darjeeling, Kolkata, Patna etc. regions already.

DOLPHIN..or PENGUIN?? why??

Yes, yes my dear it's not a penguin.. :) its our very own Gangetic "DOLPHIN", which "a few lucky ones" amongst us have seen in the Brahmaputra, flowing adjacent to IITG. Had extinction of Gangetic Dolphins been taken seriously, you could also have been amongst those "lucky ones" :)
So with a purview of spreading awareness regarding Extinction of the Gangetic Dolphins, 'we', at ALCHERINGA 2008, takes this responsibility to promote it as a noble cause and wish to make it realise to 'us' humans to help in developing an eco-friendly environment.

Not to forget, another noble cause attached with ALCHERINGA, "Prevention from AIDS", which now has almost become a name attached with 'Alcheringa' and we feel pride to be able to discuss this serious issue at such a big stage and wish to take it further with a better attempt...

Jai ALCHER!! :)

The story behind "RETRO" as a theme for 2008

"Retro!! hmm.. nice theme" that's how every IITGian reacts at first...
but telling you frankly, it was not that easy to settle down to a theme as different and challenging as Retro!! Lets see if team'08 can justify with the theme.. :)

After long discussions with lots of innovative and illogical ideas :) , we narrowed down to these 2 themes for 2008:
1. Revel in RETRO !!
2. Go WILD!!

few others which came into discussion included "Black", "white", "Black & White" and all sorts of nonsense colours... :)

Finally, after heated discussions and long meeting sessions( of which most of you are familiar with :) ) , we settled down to RETRO!!

More coming up in next post...
